8. The Pier

ST. PETERSBURG.   Jutting out into Tampa Bay, this stretch of real estate is distinguished by an inverted glass pyramid. It's a local landmark and site of some of the area's most intriguing dining, shopping, and attractions. The five-story complex boasts an observation deck up-top. There's also an aquarium and opportunities for fishing trips, cruises, dolphin sightseeing and sunset cruises. If fishing is your thing, you may rent gear from the Bait House and try your luck in the waters around the pier. Meanwhile, surreys, bicycles and even electric boat rentals are available for those who want to do some exploring. I enjoy the top level -- was Cha Cha Coconuts last yr. Great outdoor place to relax watch planes and the ocean -- good food and reasonable pricing. some times there is live music -- not "pro" but enjoyable!
