HAVENSIGHT.   Havana Blue is incredibly stylish, in a South Beach-meets-New York way, sleek and spare with lots of flickering candlelight and billowy white curtains framing wide-open windows which look out onto the intense blue sea. Lounge-y music appeals to the ears without ever being so dominant that an intimate conversation is interrupted. The food will enthrall all your senses. Whiz kid executive chef Omar Sanchez has an amazing knack for innovative Asian/Latin fusion cooking: duck crepes with jalapeño and espresso sauces, plantain-crusted red snapper with spicy green chile-lime sauce and Asian slaw, grilled ancho-rubbed beef filet with wasabi mash. For dessert try something unusual like blueberry-white chocolate cake, or banana-macadamia spring rolls with strawberry balsamic puree. A 7-course tasting menu is $125/person. This restaurant stands alone in St. Thomas. Recently opened on the Marriott Frenchman's Reef/Morningstar Resort, the cuisine is described as Latin-fusion; decor is very chic/South Beach and is stunning. Lots of candlelight, ocean front/open air dining; blue lighting and flowing white sheer curtains. The cuisine is unparalleled in the Virgin Islands. Thomas.
