SMITH BAY.   Seafood, Caribbean-style is the specialty at this elegant cliff-top restaurant. Select a glass of vino from the award-winning wine list, and sip as you peruse the menu. Start with the Agave sampler for two. Mini-portions of crab, conch fritters and shrimp cocktail are just enough to whet your appetite. The locally caught lobsters are an excellent value and there are usually six daily fresh-catch specials, prepared to order. Other excellent options include the red snapper with lobster medallions and the jumbo prawns in garlic cream sauce over linguine. Non-seafood eaters will want to try a steak; you have choices ranging from tenderloins to Kansas City strips. Nightly entertainment varies with piano, guitar and steel pan performances.   (© 10Best)

We had reservations for eight at 8 o'clock on 9-10-09. It was our last night in St Thomas and we wanted to go out in style. We had already dined at Robert"s which was excellent food and service and Havana Blue which also had excellent food but not so great service. Agave Terrace didn't come close to either one in the quality of food. The service was good. The crab cakes tasted like it was past-due PASTURIZED crab meat, with the consistency of canned tuna. The grouper tasted and smelled fishy. The shrimped were presented beautifully but were overcooked and tasted rubbery. The only thing that came close to being decent was the steak and it was just ok. We live on the Gulf Coast and have tasted many a seafood dish and Agave Terrace doesn't even rival Red Lobster.

Bad service..... food so so
Had reservations for 6 pm.... 4 persons. Some delay getting a table even thought it just opened. Bar service was great.... friendly bartender. Once we ordered, it was over an hour before we were served... No apologies. I can deal with "island time" but this was an extreme. Food was pricey, but great views of the ocean. Food quality was not that great, and portions left you still hungry. No way were we going to wait for dessert to be served. First and last time we will go there.
