5. Fife Coastal Path

From Inverkeithing on the Forth to Tayport on the Tay, this largely flat route means that walkers of all abilities can see the beautiful and varied Fife coastline. If you haven't time to do it all, take a bus to Elie (nos. x26 or 95) and do what many say is the most interesting part of the walk. From there to Pittenweem, you pass Elie lighthouse, the ruins of Ardross and Newark Castles and can stop off at St Monans for a half-time refreshment before heading past St Monans' salt pans and Pittenweem, where you can get a bus back to St Andrews.
