6. WPA Murals at City Hall

A few minutes from Stamford is the picturesque town of Norwalk, which boasts the largest existing collection of WPA murals in the country. Of the 46 murals and canvases, 22 were painted by artist Alexander J. Rummler; the remainder were completed by Harry Townsend, Justin Gruelle, Arthur G. Hull, and George Avison. Vividly depicting regional, historic, and cultural scenes, the works are on display at City Hall, Norwalk Transit District, Norwalk Community College, the Maritime Aquarium, and the Public Library.
