Being known to many as "Mother Nature's Back Yard," it comes as no surprise that Utah's variety of stunning landscapes and geology attracts thousands of outdoor sport and nature enthusiasts every year. No matter what the season, visitors can enjoy everything from world-class snow skiing and snowboarding to golf, hiking or mountain biking. Probably the most popular sports city in Utah? The adventure capital, Moab, sitting in the southeastern corner. In the heart of red rock country you will find such fascinating feats of nature as Arches and Canyonlands National Parks. In the southwestern corner of the state, St. George boasts some of the top golf courses in the country. As you get into the northern part of the state you will find what many would claim as Utah's best attribute, "The Greatest Snow on Earth." Utah is known for its fine ski resorts. Powder Mountain has been ranked by ski magazines as having the best snow in the country. Park City is another famous ski spot known not only for its snow but also for its abundance of hip restaurants and nightlife. The famous Sundance Film Festival also takes place in Park City every January. On top of all of this, Utah is perfect for fishing, boating and rafting thanks to its many lakes and rivers, including the famous Salt Lake and Lake Powell. Even with all of this natural beauty, Utah's most popular tourist destination is the Temple Square, located in the metropolis of Salt Lake City. Within the square there are more than 20 attractions relating to Mormon history such as the Salt Lake Temple and the Family History Library. While in the city, be sure to stop by a bakery and try one of Utah's famous scones. Unlike the small biscuit-like scone from Great Britain, scones in Utah are served huge, deep-fried, and dripping in honey butter.
