State Description
Mention of a visit to Wisconsin, America's Dairyland, conjures up images of cows, cheese and even grown adults wearing big orange wedges of cheese on their heads. But there's so much more to this state than merely cheeseheads. True, traveling through Wisconsin, you'll see vast farmlands producing many dairy products, but Wisconsin is also renowned for its production of beer, paper products and even Jelly Belly jelly beans. If you're a golfer, head to Lake Geneva or even to Whistling Straits Golf Club in Sheboygan, one of the few courses to get a 5-star rating from Golf Digest. If you like to bike, pick up the Sugar River Bike Trail in New Glarus, but make time to thoroughly enjoy America's Little Switzerland before heading out on your bike. Wisconsin is also a water wonderland – it not only borders two of the Great Lakes, but also has more than 15,000 lakes and 33,000 miles of rivers to enjoy. And, if that's not enough, Wisconsin has more indoor water parks than any other state – they practically invented them there in the Dells. If you love a stroll along the water's edge, nothing is more serene than Door County, filled with lighthouses, cherry picking and, in the height of the season, lots of tourists. But tourists flock to Wisconsin for more water parks and fish boils. Don't forget about football! The Green Bay Packers are a football legend and serious business in Wisconsin, where Lambeau Field is practically sacred ground. And Milwaukee is home not only to the Great Circus Parade, a famous Summerfest and rocking Oktoberfest, but also to the Brewers and the Bucks. With everything that Wisconsin has to offer, it's no wonder those cheeseheads are always smiling!
