About Wyoming
Where the Great Plains meet the Rocky Mountains you will find some of the most wide-open space in the country. The great state of Wyoming is the least populated in the US. With over 91% of its land considered rural there is no better place to get away. Outdoor enthusiasts of all kinds flock to the state for adventure and relaxation alike. Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Parks are among the most popular destinations. Spanning Montana and Idaho as well as Wyoming, Yellowstone stands as a reminder of the natural beauty and diversity of this great country. Every year the herds of buffalo, magnificent geysers and Upper Falls inspire awe in thousands of new visitors. South of Yellowstone sits the majestic Grand Teton National Park. The snow-capped peaks provide a view that has captured the hearts of many as they traveled through the region. In the southwestern part of the state lies a totally unexpected landscape in utter contrast to the peaks and snow of the Tetons and Yellowstone. The rolling sand dunes of the Red Desert resemble more the Middle East than the state of Wyoming. Nevertheless, the Red Desert encompasses more than eight million acres of public desert lands. The cities of Wyoming are mostly overgrown cattle towns with their biggest attractions being rodeos and restaurants serving the famous bison chili. On the other hand, one museum worth visiting is the National Historic Trails Center in Casper. In the early 1800s, close to half-a-million people traversed the state of Wyoming in search of gold, adventure or a new life. The trails that they followed are remembered in this museum, and historical sites along those trails can still be visited today.Local Color
