4. Manly Beach

MANLY.   In the late 1800s, Australia saw its first advertising slogan with Manly Beach's ad "Seven miles from Sydney and a Thousand Miles From Care." And given that Manly was Australia's first resort area, it has had plenty of time to create a carefree environment. It's also built up its restaurant and nightlife scene. There are now over 80 restaurants, several great pubs and an interesting art gallery. Manly is located on a peninsular surrounded by the Harbour, the ocean and Sydney Harbour National Park.
