Named for the British royal family's estate in Scotland, this beach was a camp for artists and writers until the early 1900s, when the government came in and tidied up everything. If you get tired of swimming, you can always rent a sailboard or take a sailing lesson as a diversion. During the summer months (January and February, down south), you'll find seaside performances of Shakespeare's works. And, the beach's many restaurants boast fabulous views of the water. BUS: 238 or 258 to Balmoral.
