Terrible
A friend and I ate at FGF on Friday night. The appetizer was OK (potato Chips with Gorgonzola), But the rest of the meal was terrible. The wine list is bad. The steak I received was Tough and had cold shoe strings piled on top(may have been real shoestrings not potatoes), and the Tuna was frozen garbage. I do not recommend going.

Attended a party....good food good wine
But had lunch there with a friend....I had a $7 dollar salad that had nothing on it.....and my friend had the same salad with tuna on top...same price...when I mentioned this to the server she looked at me like I was crazy....I sent back this pile of leaves.....
However, the party I attended there was very nice...

It's misguiding to say that "this deli and cafe has been a ... favorite for over 18 years.." Yes, it has been there for 18 years but the owners have noticably changed. It's "golden age" being nestled somewhere in it's culinary past. Most recently, a friend and I decided to spend our Valentine's dinner there. In short, the meal was a disaster. Nothing on the menu spoke of originality, and the wine list is in desperate need of consultation.
For starters, we ordered the egglpant dip. It was OK; unfortunately, we could not really appreciate it with the wine pairing we chose because our server brought our entrees to us less than five minutes later. I noticed the service was "rushing" other tables too. What a horrible way to spend such an "intimate" evening.
In reference to the food delivered, I had the seared tuna that was supposed to be served over a Shrimp and Crab "sauce" but it was more like a cold thin fishy soup. My friend ordered the grouper, served with cheese grits and collards. He was dissapointed in the portions. Both filets were approximately 4 ozs. To my amusement the grits and collards were just as tiny. Needless to say, $90 later, I would not reccomend this restaurant to anyone who appreciates good food.
