This is one of the best places to take in the flora and fauna of inland Florida. The trail is clean, mostly asphalt and boardwalk, and about 80% shaded, so even in the heat of late summer, it is more than bearable. The fitness stations along the 1.8 mile main trail are great, and there are restroom facilities about a third and two-thirds of the way around. The trail has some gentle hills, and criss crosses the water off and on throughout. Dogs are allowed on the main trail, but please be sure to bring a bag for when nature calls. If you are a bird watcher, this is an awesome venue. In one day, we saw a Great Blue Heron, Red-bellied Woodpecker, Wood Duck and various cranes, storks and ibis.
