This place is a throwback in time to the 40's or 50's. Before big corporations and Harvard MBA's took over hospitality and every place was run by mom and pop. Thats the feel I got when I walked in there. And after eating the food, making friends with the crowd, being treated like an old friend by the staff and generally enjoying the heck out of our evening, I left with warm feelings and a new favorite place. The jerk chicken salad was unreal. We heard they were building a new kitchen and we can see why. No better food anyplace and we've tried them all. This bar is very energetic and has a fun upbeat life style to it. The staff made my time there very worth while I had more fun here than at any other bar I have been to!!! Gaspar's Grotto has more diverse fun than any bar in town. More going on than you can imagine. From crazy days of bounding Great Danes at Pets on the Patio to blind transvestites on stage at the next fundraiser, it's always new and different at GG. Great food, Great Drinks, Great People. Gaspar's Grotto is a pirate themed watering hole in Ybor City world renown for maddness, mahem and fun. Artists, politicians,celebrities frequent the Grotto. Some of Tampa's best guest list's find themselves at private parties at the Grotto. The recent addition of the "Set Sail" menu, designed by one of Tampa's finest chefs puts the Grotto in the fine dining category. The cost are very reasonable with nothing on the menu exceeding $20. Always something going on at Gaspar's Grotto, every night of the week. Live music ALWAYS on the wekends, often during the week. The last Wednesday of the week is an evening not to miss.
