On March 13, 2004, I decided that to celebrate giving my fiancé her engagement ring, we would dine at Landry's, since we had heard a few recommendations about the restaurant. Unfortunately, our experience was a near total disaster. The worst offense was when we first arrive. When my fiancé told the mâitre d' that we had JUST gotten engaged, his response was, "That may be, but the wait is still an hour and a half." That was it! We knew we had to wait, but were horrified by his rude tone and comment--we did not expect special treatment. We did not, however, expect to be treated so poorly. When we finally were seated, the meal was, at best, average. While the server was efficient, we had to send back both dishes because they were lukewarm. To our amazement, the cappuccino we ordered was ALSO sent back and it returned NOT freshly made, but heated in a microwave. Sadly, this dinner ruined what should have been a perfect evening. We had been to Bern's Steakhouse before, and knew how wonderful it was, but we wanted to try something new. We will NOT make that mistake again!
