Disappointing dining experience
We have dined around the country in numerous 4 and 5 star restaurants, the Rusty Pelican does not compare. We dined on Friday, Sep 11, 2009. There was a wedding reception and a rehearsal dinner in the back rooms. The dining room had three tables with 2 people each at 8:30 pm. Our waitress was friendly but slow especially considering there were not many diners. We had to wait for refills on water and to get her attention for other requests. My husband ordered the NY strip steak and it was terrible and tasted like it had been tenderized--certainly not choice meat. I ordered a seafood plate that had a 3 oz piece of salmon, 2 scallops, one shrimp and one deep fried crabcake. Overall we were disappointed and will not go back. Awesome view but only adequate food.

If I could score Rusty Pelican a 3.5 I would. The location - excellent - on the water with a great view. The ambience - excellent - two fireplaces, a grand piano, white tablecloths. The service - very good - the waiter was attentive yet not obtrusive - we waited a little longer than expected for the bill. The food was very good, served hot, beautifully presented with orchids on the plates. The food flavor was good - out of the three entrees served, one was a bit oversalted. The other dishes lacked something in flavor to be excellent - but were very good. Only 2 menu entrees were priced $18.95 all other entrees were $22.95 or higher. For our three entrees, one appetizer, one glass of wine, two desserts the cost was $100 without tip - a bit high I think. We had Grouper with artichoke and asparagus, fettucini alfredo with lobster, scallops, and shrimp, and a mixed grill dish: crab cake, salmon, and skewer of shrimp & scallops.
