BIRMINGHAM/ EAST TOLEDO.   In 1932, Tony Packo, Sr. opened this neighborhood café in Birmingham, the Hungarian neighborhood in East Toledo. Since then, it's been serving Hungarian food to locals, tourists and plenty of famous people. The most popular dish is the hot dog with chili, diced onions and mustard. Sides include dumplings, gravy and hot German potato salad. Jamie Farr from M*A*S*H liked this place so much he actually mentioned it on the show several times, and autographed hot dog buns cover the walls – you'll see signatures by people like Clint Black, Steven Tyler, Patty LaBelle and astronaut Donald Thomas. The cozy, family friendly interior doubles as a bar and restaurant.   (© 10Best)

Great Novelty, Great Comfort Food Restaurant!
I have read revues and have heard friends and co-workers talk about this place for years (Some good, some bad)! Also, I have been a M*A*S*H fan my entire life; so last year when my son and I made our way to Toledo for a Mudhens game, we made it a point to have lunch here. (Had to find out!) It was much more than what I had envisioned in my mind! The Front st. location was nostalgic and enviting; the autographed "buns" on the walls are cool as can be. The food was great! Of course, we had the original hot dogs with all the trimmings. Fantastic! (If you are the High-Brow, Snooty, Elitist, Have-to-have-everything-I-eat-come-from-a-Mobil-5-star-restaurant type of person, stay away this is not for you. If you like really good comfort food than this place is for you!) Later that day, at 5/3 Field, We saw Packo's at the Park. Guess what? That's right, you guessed it, we had dinner there. Just as good but a different atmosphere (no buns on the walls). In a few days, again, my son and I are going to a Mudhens game and he wants to carry-on the unexpected "tradition" of going to Packo's. This time, we have our sights set on the The M*O*A*D! I'll let you know!
