A fun jazz bar with different theme nights – including swing, salsa and smooth jazz. A great place to spend an evening with friends, enjoy a nice meal and good music. The menu runs from bruschetta, tempura shrimp and carpaccio to grilled alligator, linguine with sausage and peppers and steak frites.

I went to AlleyCatz to celebrate my upcoming nuptials with a few friends and I was far beyond disappointed. Where do I begin? Maybe I’ll start with the atrocious service. Whenever we asked our ‘gracious’ waitress for assistance she responded with, “we don’t do that”. She was rude and seemingly annoyed with our presence and she even spilled a portion of my martini in my friend’s hair. Fantastic start huh? The atmosphere was ok...I guess! The positioning of the tables was ridiculous. We could barely get in or out of our seats. It seemed as if they tried to cram as many people as possible into the sardine can they call a restaurant. It was cold and I even had the pleasure of sitting beside some used batteries in the ‘window cil’ (a little opening in the wall...where a strange man sat on the other side and was staring at us....just a little uncomfortable. ) The only music we heard was a serenade from a crying infant at the table beside us. (Baby+Jazz Bar=?????)
The food was over-priced and mediocre at best. I ordered braised ribs that were supposed to be served on mashed potatoes (which turns out were potato wedges) and a side of fries (a handful for $5). My ribs were at least 50% fat, and did not have very much meat on the bone. The other dishes we ordered were satisfactory, but they seriously lacked presentation.
I think the highlight of the night was when the waitress asked us “how many times do you expect me to refill your glass? Every time you’re thirsty?” Somehow I thought that was her job......the waitresses at Swiss Chalet refill your drink – most times without even asking. This place is overpriced, with under service! I would STRONGLY suggest dining elsewhere! Unless you have money to burn!!! And in that case I do take donations! :) (hey I have a wedding to pay for!) ;) lol!
