DOWNTOWN.   This exquisite Cantonese restaurant definitely lives up to its name, which means "elegant meeting place." For an extra-special experience, call and pre-order "Lustrous Peacock," comprised of melon, barbecued chicken, duck, and honey walnuts. You'll also find 100 other choices on the menu. It's said that Lai Wah Heen serves some of Toronto's best dim sum in town too, including thin pouches filled with shark's fin and sprinkled with lobster roe.   (© 10Best)

Hands down the best Cantonese Restaurant in North America, possibly the best Chinese Restaurant of any type in North America.

Who goes to Lai Wah Heen and orders hot and sour soup? Lai Wah Heen is without a doubt the best Chinese food in Canada, and perhaps North America. I have brought many HKers there and they've all found the food to rival top restaurants in Hong Kong. If you like eating spring rolls and chop suey, this place is not for you. The dim sum menu is where Lai Wah Heen shines although it's tough paying $5 for a dumpling.

I make a point of having Lai Wah Heen's dim sum on my annual trips to Toronto. The dim sum is not only beautiful, but delicious. The wait staff has always been professional and very helpful. A nice wine selection. I definitely recommend trying the specials.
