More about Trent

Trent is a small town located on the north side of the Island of Rügen, Germany's largest island situated just off the mainland. The city of Stralsund serves as the mainland's gateway to this jewel of nature, which boasts a landscape interspersed with sandy beaches, exotic chalky cliffs, sparkling bays, and jagged peninsulas. Visitors can start from the quiet town of Trent and head out to find all manner of interesting surprises on the island. In Stubbenkammer, guests can visit Königsstuhl, a towering chalk cliff surrounded by a forested area and set against the backdrop of the sea. The town of Kap Arkona to the very north of the island features a lighthouse (constructed between 1826-1829) that provides a marvelous lookout point to Rügen's sister island of Hiddensee. Sightseers can visit Jagdschloß Granitz, a castle to the south of the city of Blinz. While at the castle, be sure to notice the intricate spiral staircase that leads up to a viewing station where guests can see the beautiful forestry that surrounds the castle. Beaches abound on the island and can be accessed from a number of southwesterly points, including Binz, Baabe, Göhren, and Sellin. Drama buffs will enjoy the Residenz Theatre in Putbus or the open air Ralswiek Theatre with its stage backdrop of the lovely Bodden of Jasmund. The Jasmund National Park draws guests to enjoy its beech forest—the largest in Europe. The interesting sites, relaxing atmosphere and awe-inspiring natural beauty continue to draw visitors to this rugged island and its small towns again and again.
