SOUTH TUCSON.   For authentic Mexican cuisine, Mi Nidito is a top choice. Locals and visitors line up to feast on Sonoran classics in a festive cantina environment. Start with simple but delicious cheese tostadas, and then move on to tostados, tamales, and the popular enchiladas – rolled or flat, and stuffed with your choice of fillings. The brightly colored interior is casual and pleasant, but it's the food, not the decor, that has made this a local institution.   (© 10Best)

Mi Nidito has been my family's favorite mexican restraunt for many years now. I love all that they have to offer! Eat the guacamole or cheese tostada with guacamole as a starter! The Margaritas are pretty tasty too!

Lotta hype, but marginal fare at best. Vegetarian burrito came without any garnish, just a plain tortilla on the plate; inside was mush, couldn't differentiate any ingredients; warm - not hot; truly awful and inedible.

I came to Tucson from NY in 1972. There were desperately few good places to eat. Mi Nidito was one the very best Mexican restaurants then, and 35 years later it is today the clear winner for my wife and myself. (The other contenders have gone "mainstream" and have declined in quality while Mi Nidito has, if anything, gotten better. Just be sure to leave time, there is almost always a wait and there are no reservations; but once you're seated, service is friendly and your order comes quickly.
