4. Dreamland

For some authentic Southern BBQ, there's no finer institution than Tuscaloosa's Dreamland. Since the late '50s, it's been a local icon that serves heaping plates of ribs and hearty sandwiches topped with a tangy, homemade sauce. Side dishes include the likes of coleslaw, baked beans and potato salad. Dreamland's interior is casual with a country feel, from the pot-bellied stove to the beer advertising paraphernalia and perpetually strung Christmas lights.
