DOWNTOWN.   The allure of railroading still runs strong in central New York, thanks to this company. Passengers travel in vintage train cars, both enclosed and open-air ones, depending on how guests want to experience the summer or fall journey from Union Station in Utica to Thendara, a few hours away. The route's pristine scenery showcases the region to great effect, and folks can get a feel for travel in past eras.
