6. Scandinavian Midsummer Festival

The Buzz -- The familiar festive sight of a garlanded Maypole makes a striking centerpiece for the two-day revelry that heralds the celebration of the longest day of the year, historically holding a prominent place in Scandinavian calendars. Held in and about the Scandinavian Centre in Burnaby with folk dancing, choirs, colorful traditional costumes, even a Viking village with a ship! Authentic Scandinavian delicacies such as lingonberry and Swedish meatballs, Danish smørrebrød and beer gardens are enough of a reason to feast for every member of the family.
