ROCKLAND / FAIRFIELD.   Traditional tandoori cuisine is baked in a clay oven, and this is one of Victoria's best places to find the tasty dishes. In addition to tandoori chicken, lamb and seafood, you'll find plenty of vegetarian options and an extensive selection of masalas and vindaloos. Located near Fort Street, this is a great spot for dinner after a day of antiquing. Smart-casual attire. Reservations suggested.   (© 10Best)

My fiancé and I … are lovers of East Indian food. We searched online to find a good restaurant. Da Tandoor had the most web coverage, so we decided to give it a try. We were warmly greeted by a young man who led us to a table where we waited for 10 minutes to be greeted by our waitress. The restaurant was not busy and she was not serving any other people. On her arrival we were ready to place our entire order. The appetizers promptly arrived. Though, they were not what was stated in the menu. We were shocked that we had been served a plate of deep-friend onions and carrots....we do not eat deep-friend foods. But we tried them simply to discover what exactly they were. Normally, we would tell the server about the problem but since the server did not return until after we had eaten our main course we did not want to bother. Each course was served by a different person who simply served the dish and walked away without explaining anything. The main course however was average. I had the tikki and my fiancé had the tandorri. His was overcooked and quite small in size compared to mine. He barely ate anything. I asked to have everything wrapped up to go. When I arrived home, I realized that not only was everything dumped in one container (including sauces) but that neither of us had ordered beef, with which these containers were filled. Overall, I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone. I am hopeful that there are other East Indian restaurants in town.
