ROCKLAND / FAIRFIELD. Every city needs a top-shelf men's store, and this is Victoria's. Brands stocked include Calvin Klein, Armani and Hugo Boss, and there is a wonderful selection of Bally shoes, ties and leather jackets. The store itself won a national design award thanks to the leather floor tiles and handcrafted light fixtures. There is also a women's wear section.

DOWNTOWN. Lace and linen are the specialties of the day at Irish Linen. The store has been at its present location since 1917 and the light fixtures and glass cases are all original. This is the place to stock up on beautiful handmade treasures like doilies, placemats, tablecloths, napkins, scarves and a variety of embroidered items.

DOWNTOWN. Housed in a historic building dating from 1909, Munro's might be the best-looking bookstore west of the Rockies! The high ceilings, colorful murals and weighty brass lamps will divert your attention initially, but browse Munro's shelves to truly appreciate this well-stocked store. Let the friendly staff help you find a must-read among the 35,000 volumes. If you are looking for specialty books about Victoria or Western Canada, this is the place to stop.

DOWNTOWN. This BC chain has its largest retail space in Victoria. This location also boasts outdoor dining and a 110-seat bar, and is ideal for afternoon tea which includes a tempting array of finger sandwiches, miniature tarts, scones, cookies and pastries. Established in 1894, Murchie's has built its reputation on having the finest teas and coffees available. Be sure to pick up some tea or coffee to enjoy at home.

DOWNTOWN. Rogers' is sweet in more ways than one. The beautiful store is outfitted with Tiffany glass and old-fashioned counters, just like when Charles Rogers first opened the doors in 1900. Then there's the candy itself! Even Buckingham Palace has indulged in the chocolate nut clusters, hard candies, and famous chocolate-covered Victorian creams. And world-wide shipping is available if you can't visit in person.
