2. Barockmuseum

Both the upper and lower palaces of the Belvedere feature museums devoted to Austrian art. In fact, the building itself is a masterpiece of Baroque architecture. The Museum of Austrian Baroque Art displays 17th and 18th century paintings and sculptures. Highlights from the museum include the collection of wonderfully grotesque sculptures by Franz Xaver Messerschmidt, who worked in the court of empress Maria Theresia.   (© 10Best)
