6. Schönbrunn Palace

Schönbrunn Palace, elegant former summer residence of the Imperial Family, is one of Austria's premier tourist spots. The entire grounds can be seen from Gloriette, a hill overlooking the site. Tour the ornately decorated palace or visit the carriage museum and the palace theater. It's a pretty good stroll to the Gloriette, but well worth it--plus there's always a brat stand there! This is a lovely palace with beautiful artwork and tapestries - a must visit when in Vienna.

I have been there several times and felt like it must be heaven living here, and the sites are magnificent. I live in Montreal now, but my birth city was Odenburg.
