2. Augustinerkirche (Church of the Augustinian Friars)

1ST DISTRICT.   The interior of this 14th-century Gothic church is one of the most well preserved in Vienna. It was the site of many lavish court weddings. The Loretokapelle (Loreto Chapel) houses 54 small silver urns that preserve the hearts of the Hapsburg family. One of the most impressive works is the symbolic tomb of daughter Maria Theresia, a powerful neo-Classical sculptural piece by renowned artist Antonio Canova.   (© 10Best)
