EXETER. Covering more than 300 acres, this nature preserve offers an enchanting collection of landscapes, from haunting swamps to rolling meadows. In addition, the park is home to some of the world's finest remaining valley oak woodlands. Valley oaks only grow in California and are North America's largest oaks – a full-grown, 600-year-old tree can reach a diameter of up to 9 feet. Home to several species of birds and other wildlife, Kaweah Oaks is a terrific place to wander, camera in hand, and capture a hawk, an owl, a coyote, or even the legendary California legless lizard going about its daily business.
