WACO.   The Mayborn unifies what were formerly three separate facilities: the Strecker Museum (natural and cultural history), the Ollie Mae Moen Discovery Center, and the Governor Bill and Vara Daniel Historic Village. All three help to elucidate the life and history of Central Texas, taking as their focus time-tracking artifacts and exhibits, child-friendly interactive displays and period structures that recreate a 19th-century farming community. Interesting highlights of the complex include the Mammoth Room and the Texas Lifeways exhibit. An educational and fun experience for everyone in the family.   (© 10Best)

The Mayborn Museum Complex provides a wide spectrum of learning opportunities to engage all types visitors. The exhibits and education programs encourage families to learn together and design their own museum experience. This complex offers sixteen hands-on discovery rooms in the Jeanes Discovery Center with themes from vertebrates to transportation, health to sound. Natural history exhibits are located both indoors and outdoors and include walk-in dioramas and exploration stations. The 15 wood frame buildings that make up the 13-acre Gov. Bill & Vara Daniel Historic Village gives visitors an accurate view of life in Texas from the latter part of the 19th Century into the early 20th Century. At the Waco Mammoth Exhibit, guests can walk on a see-through floor to look down upon casts of the Columbian mammoth bones displayed exactly as they were unearthed at the Waco Mammoth Site, just 5 miles from the Baylor Campus. The complex also includes a traveling exhibit hall, a theater, a museum store, and a café.
