El Conquistador Restaurant

901 N Loop 340, Waco, TX 76705

User Rating:  Rating: 5 / 5   (Rate It)

My Suitcase:   (Add to My Suitcase)

Tex-Mex is an art that, over the years, has been sullied by chains and wannabes. Not so with "El Con," as it's locally known. That heaping platters of rice, beans, tacos, and enchiladas come standard is a benchmark that many Waco residents take for granted. All the ingredients are fresh and the low prices and friendly staff will keep true Tex-Mex fans satisfied. El Conquistador has two locations at 2508 W Waco Drive and 901 N Loop 340.

George's Restaurant & Catering

1925 Speight Ave, Waco, TX 76706

My Suitcase:   (Add to My Suitcase)

George's has been a local gathering place for Wacoans, Baylor Alumni, and sports-goers alike since the 1930s. George's is known for its friendly atmosphere, and as a place "where everybody knows your (name) beer." Sammy Citrano has made an atmosphere in Waco where locals, students, and travelers can enjoy great food, great friends, and ice cold beer. Also, there is a cook there named Emory who makes some mean meals...so make sure to ask for him! Favorite dish: well, seeing as I have been in George's over 100 times in my college career, I would have to recommend two dishes above all of them: #1 Emory's Cheeseburger Basket.... it's a little spicier than the cheeseburger on the menu, so make sure you ask for it! #2 Chicken Fried Steak. Please also remember... you must drink a Big O, and ask them to put Pat Green on the jukebox while you are there.

Vitek's Bar B Q

1600 Speight Ave, Waco, TX 76706

Vitek's is one of Waco's favorite traditions. The infamous "Gut Pack" – a hearty mess of barbecue beef, beans, Fritos, peppers, onions and sausage – is wildly popular among Baylor students and Wacoans alike.
