A former headquarters and lookout point for Union troops when they took over Fairfax during the Civil War, the Courthouse is a dramatic example of period architecture. Several historians claim that this was the site of the first battle of the war. Another claim to fame for the courthouse is that George and Martha Washington wrote and submitted their wills here.
