DC's much-anticipated events draw innumerable locals and visitors to celebrate the seasons, successes, and spirit of the country's capital. Early spring brings the popular National Cherry Blossom Festival, which showcases spectacular cherry trees in full bloom. Easter finds the White House lawn packed with eager youngsters ready to participate in the annual White House Easter Egg Roll. May features Taste of DC, a downtown festival highlighting cuisine from the city's best restaurants. A highlight of the summer months is the Smithsonian Folklife Festival, a fun event focusing on cultural traditions such as dance, crafts, and food from around the nation. At the country's largest Fourth of July celebration, the sky is filled with fireworks and the streets are thronged with bands and parade participants. Autumn, then, ushers in the yearly Marine Corps Marathon and the Smithsonian Craft Show.
