DC's much-anticipated events draw innumerable locals and visitors to celebrate the seasons, successes, and spirit of the country's capital. Early spring brings the popular National Cherry Blossom Festival, which showcases spectacular cherry trees in full bloom. Easter finds the White House lawn packed with eager youngsters ready to participate in the annual White House Easter Egg Roll. May features Taste of DC, a downtown festival highlighting cuisine from the city's best restaurants. A highlight of the summer months is the Smithsonian Folklife Festival, a fun event focusing on cultural traditions such as dance, crafts, and food from around the nation.
