DOWNTOWN.   This visually stunning café features fiery red walls, black and white tiling, and a winding black staircase, creating the ideal backdrop for dramatic works by Latin American artists. Highly recommended dishes include Ecuadorian seared scallops over crispy rice cooked in coconut oil, quail prepared two ways, and flavorful salmon with papaya. The wine list is extensive and well-chosen, with choices from Chile and Argentina and the bar does lively business on weekends. METRO: Archives   (© 10Best)

This restaurant is way overrated. The service is terrible and the food is mediocre, i.e. not worth the price. Definitely not the best salmon dish -- try Thai Chef on Connecticut Avenue. I want my money back.

I was at your restaurant on New Year's Day celebrating my birthday. I wasn't sure what to expect but I thought it would be nice to eat somewhere I have never been before. The waiter and staff were very attentive, the ambience was warm and inviting, the food was beautifully presented, if not elegant, and sumptuous beyond imagination. I couldn't have been happier. I have found me a new restaurant to claim this year and bring all my friends too.

The reason my rating is as high as it is, is because of the food (especially the guacamole!). However, service at Cafe Atlantico is very hit or miss. The bartenders are always nice and friendly, however, at least one member of the waitstaff is extremely condescending, which is annoying. The manager is none too friendly either. Don't settle for a seat on the third floor - the atmosphere is horrendous up there - it's like sitting in the broom closet. Don't bring a large group (like more than 4) - it's unmanageable for them. There are far too many places to eat in D.C. to continue to receive less than adequate service and poor attitudes! If you must go, be sure to get the homemade guacamole.
