ALEXANDRIA.   At this quirky Irish chipper, patrons pack the wooden benches and chow down on cod and savory chips. Delicately patterned glass windows and dark wood paneling adorn the front of the restaurant, and high ceilings, brass chandeliers and exposed brick walls add to the charm. The menu sticks to the basics, offering two varieties of fish and seven flavors of sauce as well as sides like mushy peas, onion rings and batter sausage, all best enjoyed with a pint of Guiness.   (© 10Best)

"It's a traditional Irish chipper," explains chef/owner Cathal Armstrong. "We serve batter-fried fish and fresh hand-cut potatoes that are fried."
