About Washington Shopping

Washington Shopping

Much like DC's restaurants, shops are spread throughout the city's neighborhoods, although Georgetown, Dupont Circle, and Adams Morgan have a higher concentration than the others. Georgetown, generally perceived as the leader in DC shopping, features boutiques and antique stores with wide-ranging inventory at all price points. Georgetown shopping includes an excellent selection of high-end names like French Connection and Armani, as well as a vast number of specialty stores like Cherub Antiques and Little Caledonia. Plus, Georgetown Park features more than 75 enviable shops and eateries. Trendy Adams Morgan boasts specialty, book, and fashion boutiques with a fun, funky reputation, while Connecticut Avenue in Dupont Circle is awash with upscale brand names, as well as independent and specialty shops. Downtown isn't far behind, thanks to the many galleries of Seventh Street, plucky street vendors, and Hecht's, the only area department store. Capitol Hill's Union Station hosts upscale shopping too, and Fashion Centre at Pentagon City and Mazza Gallerie on Wisconsin Avenue are also prime retail destinations.
