NATIONAL MALL. This well-known DC landmark overlooks the Reflecting Pool, with the Washington Monument and the US Capitol looming in the distance. Anyone visiting DC for the first time should take the scenic walk by the pool, up the long marble staircase to the19-foot high statue of the 16th president.
