Bardia's New Orleans Cafe is one of the best representations of authentic New Orleans cuisine in the Washington, D.C. area. Being a native of New Orleans, I am always looking for the best and most authentic Cajun-Creole cuisine. It doesn't matter which dish you try, you will get a taste of New Orleans. Don't forget to get a taste of heaven and try the New Orleans original "Beignets". Bardia's beignets are actually better than the beignets served at Cafe Du Monde of New Orleans. In addition, the quaint, cozy environment is very nice. It is also great that customers can hear a little jazz music playing in the background while they have breakfast, lunch, or dinner. I rate this restaurant a perfect 5.

I am a chef myself although the style of cooking is not my type of cooking. I am a Mediterranean style chef, I find the restaurant exceptional. I am from a culture where courtesy is very important and the owner and the staff that I encountered were extremely courteous and always kept my coffee hot and water filled even if I didn't want the water. They always make me feel welcome. They have very pleasant music in the background where you can have a pleasant conversation and hear the person across the table from you without screaming. It is very relaxing. The owner always makes you feel welcome and you can't help but want to come back. The prices are quite fair and I know since I am in the food business myself.

Want to enjoy authentic New Orleans cuisine in Washington, DC???? Then go to Bardia's New Orleans Cafe. Just imagine yourself sitting back and watching the heart of Adams Morgan come alive while listening to Ella Fitzergerald crooning in the background. If you are there for breakfast/brunch, start the morning with their chickory coffee-so flavorful, robust, and smooth. Enjoy the coffee with Bardia's infamous piping hot beignet's covered with powder sugar. Once you start, you can't stop!!!!! I prefer to eat the beignets as a dessert but starting them off in the morning isn't so bad either. If you are having lunch/dinner, try one of my many favorites: chicken and shrimp jambalaya chicken plantation shrimp po' boy crawfish etouffe Lastly, don't miss out on the pecan pie. This cafe has it all-great food, great music, great atmosphere, and a great staff. What more could you ask for?????

I read all the glowing reviews and thought this place will be great, boy was I wrong. We walked in and the staff placed us with a quick hand gesture, bam we are seated = +1 for efficiency. We get water shortly there after and then wait 10 minutes for the waitress to arrive… Final word is... if your a tourist it's not worth the walk for the quality of food and certainly not for the service (or lack there of). Grab a funnel cake and some better food somewhere else. Natives of the area and regulars to this restaurant seem to get better treatment, so if you go there a few times the waitress may even smile at you, but don't count on it. Now I know some of you are thinking that I'm being a little harsh but I haven't gotten this kind of service in San Francisco, or Chicago, or Munich for that matter. This is the first time that either of us have ever been singled out and treated differently than other patrons in a restaurant - so this may be an experience that actually would make it worth checking out.

Have been a loyal customer for years; Bardia always treats loyal customers with a complimentary Beignet's and the French toast is the best in the city.

The owner and his staff are wonderful. I have been a regular here for the last 2-3 years...and it is one of my favorite weekend breakfast places. If you want a treat...get the french toast...OUT OF THIS WORLD.

I discovered Bardia's one weekend last summer when I dropped by for an iced cappuccino. What struck me most was the friendliness of the staff. For this reason, I soon returned to explore the excellent Cajun cuisine and cozy Nawlins' ambience (there is always old jazz, big band or blues playin' in the background). What I found was one of the best recipes for Shrimp Etouffe I'd ever tasted. Another favorite? The Cajun Chicken Linguine (and plenty of fresh French bread to dip up the sauce with!). Whenever friends from out-of-town visit, I take them to Bardia's either for dinner or weekend brunch, which is also very good (Eggs Benedict mmmm). I definitely recommend Bardia's New Orleans Cafe, a lil' bit of the Big Easy in DC, for anyone visiting the Adams Morgan area.

Bardia's is simply my favorite place to eat in all of the DC area. It's more like dining in someone's home than going to a restaurant. Breakfast is served all day. The Eggs New Orleans are so good that I have actually dreamt of them. You'll find yourself asking for an extra biscuit. The gumbos are my personal favorite (as well as the gazpacho in summertime). The cajun linguini dishes are also outrageous. But the highlight is Bardia himself. A gentle and gracious host, he will take the time to sit with you if he is not too busy. And don't forget to order beignets for dessert, along with chickory coffee from Cafe Du Mond!

Going to Bardia's New Orleans Cafe is a treat for our whole family. The food is excellent and the service is great. One of my favorites is the chicken creole. It has a red sauce with lots of spices, and is served over rice, which I love. It is great for lunch or dinner. I believe that there is no other cajun food like it except in New Orleans. If you have not been there, you need to go as soon as possible and try all of their different foods. Save some room in your tummy for the desserts. The beignets just melt in your mouth and not in your plate. Go and try it. It's well worth the drive and your appetite will thank you.

I found Bardia's quite by accident some four years ago and have been going back ever since. I am a frequent visitor to New Orleans, and Bardia's cafe is the real thing in Washington, D.C. His gumbos are fresh with just the right amount of spicyness. Red beans and rice with our without andouille is a real treat. The po'boys are big and juicy. And, my personal favorites for brunch are the pancakes or the french toast, which are both light and fluffy. The staff is friendly. On weekends the small space fills up quickly, so get there early or be prepared to wait.

Bardia's New Orleans Cafe was founded in 1994 by owner/chef Bardia. It is an intimate French/Parisien style cafe located in the heart of Adams-Morgan featuring a truly authentic Cajun and Creole cuisine. It is my favorite restaurant in Adams-Morgan area. Bardia's delicious cooking had the cosmopolitan customers jamming the restaurant. The exotic spice blends and the enticing diffrent sauces and creams are the basis for Bardia's famous cooking. The helpings are generous and the prices most modest. The ambiance and the decor are excellent and when it comes to service, you are always treated graciously! Put some spice in your life! Don't miss the chance for a meal at Bardia's New Orleans Cafe!

Not only is the breakfast good at Bardia's New Orleans Cafe, but their Shrimp or Crabmeat Ettoufette is delicious as well for late lunch or dinner. The relaxed atmosphere and ambiance, combined with the background music and the photographs of jazz musicians performing, gives it a very pleasant feel. You will never feel rushed here. The owner and staff are very gracious -- from the waitresses to the cooks. This is one of two places in the Adams-Morgan area that seems blessed with consistently good service. To top off any meal whether it's breakfast, lunch, or dinner, you have to try their beignets or their bread pudding.
