MERCER.   This homey restaurant is a crowd pleaser. Dining bargain hunters will want to arrive between 4pm and 6pm when the early bird specials are served. A full children's menu guarantees the little ones will be satisfied. Start your dinner with a crab pinwheel or a bowl of hot and hearty French onion soup. The homemade soups and stews, such as Arizona roasted corn chowder and Texas chili, are a meal in themselves when eaten with a side salad. Favorite entrees are the slow roasted prime rib and the salmon in port wine sauce. Vegetarians can feast on the chef's daily pasta special. A full selection of sandwiches rounds out the menu.
