- Don't forget your clubs! Buhl Farm Park, located to the north of West Middlesex in Hermitage, PA, houses the Buhl Farm Golf Course and Driving Range. The distinction that this golf course has is that it's FREE. The golf course and driving range are well-maintained and claim to be the only free golf course in the world!
- Mercer County is a shopping Mecca. In Grove City, visitors can shop ‘til they drop at the Prime Outlets, where designer duds are offered at up to 70% off retail prices. Reyer's, the largest shoe store in the world, and Winner, the world's largest off-price ladies' clothing store, are both located in Sharon, Pennsylvania.
- Thanks to Hershey, for many people Pennsylvania is synonymous with chocolate, and this quiet corner of the state is no exception. Philadelphia Candies, Daffins Candies and Blommers are just a few confectionaries that make their home here.
- Pymatuning State Park straddles the border between Ohio and Pennsylvania. Fishermen in a boat on Pymatuning Lake may have a license from either state. However, if you are fishing on shore, to be legal you will need a license for the state where your feet are standing.
- Western Pennsylvania boasts some of the most beautiful foliage in the world. Peak season usually hits during the second or third week of October. That is when you are most likely to see a panorama of deep red maples, bright orange sugar maples, sunny yellow elms and burgundy ash trees.
- Pennsylvania's nickname is the Keystone State. A keystone is the wedge-shaped piece at the top of an arch that holds the other stones in place. Pennsylvania was physically located in the middle of the thirteen original colonies, "holding" the colonies together.
- Of the original colonies, Pennsylvania is the only one without Atlantic Ocean coastline.
- Pennsylvania is the first of the United States to list their website URL on a their license plate.
- Grove City, Pennsylvania is home to the nation's oldest and largest continually operating forge. Wendell August was established in 1923. Other than a voluntary three-year shut down during World War II when metals were rationed, the forge has been in business ever since its founding date. The forge was (and still is) an innovator in the use of aluminum for decorative items.
- Pennsylvania boasts more covered bridges than any other state in the nation, and Mercer County claims one of these charmers as its own. The Kidd's Mill covered bridge spans the Shenango River in rural Pymatuning Township, just east of Route 18. The bridge was originally built in 1868. Though closed to automobiles, the bridge was renovated in 1990 and is open to foot traffic.
