4. Solarice Wellness Spa

A Nightmare!! I booked a treatment for my wife at Solarice, through Whistler Central Reservations. At the time of booking I did not know there were two Solarice locations (this was not indicated on the Central Reservations site), but a call when we arrived in Whistler confirmed which location to attend. I walked her over, and as I walked back to my hotel my cellphone rang: the spa wanted to know where I was. I told the caller I had just dropped my wife off at the appointment and assumed this would be the end of it. But I got another very rude call shortly after informing me that I had made two appointments and would be charged for both. I informed the caller that we had called the day prior to confirm the location of the treatment, but she was adamant that we had booked a second appointment. (I was party to the confirmation call and the person we spoke to had my wife's name, the name of the package, and at no time took any financial information, so this being construed as a second reservation is out of the question.) This was a VERY rude and condescending call. There is always room for interpretation in any dispute, but when I'm being laughed at... My credit card was charged twice, for slightly different amounts- (a convenient way to circumvent VISA flagging a duplicate purchase.) I tried to get in touch with someone in management, but my phone messages were not returned. I was advised by the receptionist that it would be better to e-mail management, but after five days received no reply. I only got a response when I contacted Whistler Central Reservations and had them look into it for me. Eventually I did get my money back, but no apology for the rude treatment. Right up to the end of the last phone contact there was an insistence that the confirmation call was somehow interpreted as a reservation. (No explanation as to how they had the right name, treatment and credit card info. The disparate amounts of the charges were explained away as well.) To be fair my wife was pleased with the actual treatment, but this treatment caused far more stress than it alleviated, and we will not use their services again.

This spa is all about wellness. They took care of me from beginning to end & I did exercise (pilates), fixed my low back pain (acupuncture) & got gorgeous (facial) all in one spot. The staff was friendly & casual & professional. I'll be back.
