PEMBERTON. Transport to remote powder-covered slopes for the best skiing you'll find. In addition to single-day four- and six-run packages, customized multi-day trips are also available. From June to September, Coast Range offers heli-hiking, heli-fishing, heli-climbing, heli-biking and even heli-weddings. The company uses A-star helicopters, and has a daily shuttle between Whistler and Pemberton (no car necessary).

SQUAMISH. Cross-country skiing purists and enthusiasts will love Garibaldi's ungroomed, unpatrolled ski trails. These backcountry trails are marked, however they are recommended for intermediate and expert skiers only. Many trails feature huts for overnight excursions. Squamish is the closest town to the park, and a number of roads along Highway 99 offer access to Garibaldi.

WHISTLER VILLAGE. Although it's a little complicated to get to, Horstman Glacier is highly recommended is you love to ski but find yourself in Whistler during the summer months. The Whistler - Blackcomb resort maintains the glacier for skiing and snowboarding, bringing snow in from nearby slopes or manufacturing it on the ice. Many people attend ski and snowboard camps on Horstman during the summer, so expect a crowd. To get there, take the Wizard and Solar Coaster Express chairlifts, and transfer to a bus which travels along the Expressway to the 7th Heaven Express – take that to the top of the glacier. Summer glacier skiing is open from early June through July, but exact dates vary.

WHISTLER VILLAGE. The perfect place to get away from the crowds, year round. In the winter, Lost Lake is popular for cross-country skiing and snowshoeing, with several marked trails. Cross Country Connection (604-905-0071) operates equipment rentals (skis, snow shoes, bikes) and tours in the park. In the summer, folks walk, run, picnic and laze around on the sandy shore. There's no parking, so plan to walk or bicycle (takes about 30 minutes from Whistler Village); during the summer Whistler Transit operates a free shuttle bus service to Lost Lake from the Gondola Transit Exchange and the Blackcomb Park 'n Ride Lot. Lights are on until 10pm.

NORTH WHISTLER. Experienced skiers will want to check this one out for sure – Powder Mountain Catskiing gets you away from the well-traveled slopes and into the freshest powder you've ever seen. And with some 4300 acres of mountainous terrain to choose from, there's no chance for a cancelled trip due to lack of snow. All guides are also certified instructors so you can also learn to ski or board powder. Trips are offered daily during the winter, and depart from the Coast Whistler Hotel lobby at about 7am; return time is usually about 5pm.

WHISTLER VILLAGE. Ski Magazine has dubbed Whistler-Blackcomb the best ski resort in the world, thanks in large part to an average annual snowfall of 30 feet and glacier skiing that often lasts into August. The two mountains have a combined acreage of over 8100 acres, with 200 marked trails and 38 lifts able to move 61,407 skiers per hour. The longest runs are seven miles, and there are several snowboarding parks and pipes. Each mountain has a number of restaurants and gift shops as well. Tots six and under ski free.

WHISTLER VILLAGE. For the legions of adventurous folks who visit Whistler each year, this company is a huge boon. The expert, experienced staff guide novices and old-hands alike in a variety of outdoor activities, year round. Throughout the summer, they have regularly scheduled hiking, rock climbing, rap jumping and mountaineering ventures – you can opt for anything from a 20-minute rap jump to a multi-day backcountry hike. In the winter, backcountry skiing and snowboarding at gorgeous Garibaldi Park are on the roster, along with ice climbing and avalanche safety courses.

WHISTLER VILLAGE. If you are an intermediate or advanced skier that craves deeper powder and steeper drops, call the folks at Whistler Heli-skiing. Since 1983 they have been transporting skiers and boarders into the areas where the lifts don't run! (Whistler Heli-skiing is licensed by the BC provincial government.). Price includes a professional guide, avalanche protection equipment, and lunch on the mountain.
