WHISTLER VILLAGE. Visiting Whistler in the summer? This is on the list of must-do activities. The Adventure Zone is actually several attractions in one centralized location. Families can enjoy miniature golf, horseback trail rides, a challenging maze, a bouncy castle and slide. Additional activities include a zipline, 315m (1033 feet) luge track, bungee trampolines, a flying trapeze, a human gyroscope and the Great Wall Climbing Centre. The Peak Adventure Combo Pass includes a trip to the top of either Whistler or Blackcomb Mountain, a ride on the Westcoaster Luge, and a round of mini golf. Individual attractions have slightly different hours, and are generally open through Labor Day (first weekend in September). Some attractions have an age or weight minimum.

WHISTLER VILLAGE. Whistler – Blackcomb's tube park opened in 2005, and has been a rousing success. Pick a lane (there are eight), hop on an inner tube and whiz down the mountain! It's a lot of fun for everyone, and a conveyor lift whisks you back to the top so you don't spend half your time trudging uphill. A mini-zone with smaller tubes is ideal for younger guests. The minimum height is 36 inches, and children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult. Exact opening and closing dates vary from year to year; hours may vary slightly through the season.

WHISTLER VILLAGE. From summer activities like hiking, mountain biking, horseback riding and fishing to such winter favorites as snowmobiling, dog sledding, snowshoeing and cross-country skiing, Cougar Mountain Adventures offers a veritable cornucopia of seasonal adventure excursions. The guides are both knowledgeable and courteous, and the gear is top-notch. In the summer, Hummer and ATV tours are also available, as well as horseback riding, nature walks and hikes, and fishing trips.

Rafter C3 Adventure Ranch

4319 Main St, Whistler, BC V0N 1B2 · 866-932-4040

User Rating:   (Rate It!)

My Suitcase:   (Add to My Suitcase)

WHISTLER VILLAGE. Rafter C3 offers daily rafting trips throughout the summer, each lasting one to four hours (not including travel to and from the river). Although the Green River is closest to Whistler, you can also choose among trips down the Birkenhead, Cheakamus, or Elaho and Squamish Rivers. In the winter, some 3000 bald eagles (the largest gathering in North America) spend a few months (Nov-Feb) near Brackendale, and Rafter C3's trip down the Squamish River is the ideal way to get a closer look. Notably, all their trips are suitable for everyone, including novices and kids (although there is a minimum weight requirement on most trips ranging from 45-90 pounds).

Treetrek

WHISTLER VILLAGE. Much preferable for those of us with a little acrophobia, Treetrek is the sister experience to Ziptrek. Instead of whizzing along zipline cables through the forest, you walk along boardwalks and suspension bridges. You're up just as high (in the treetops, literally – 80-200 feet above the ground), and there's still that element of fear, but at least your feet are on something solid! Tours last about 1.5 hours, and even if it's snowing or raining, the operators have boots and rain gear to keep you comfortable. Ages 5 and up; babies carried in front packs are permitted. Hours may vary slightly seasonally. Reservations are recommended but not essential.

BRACKENDALE. Whether you're an experienced caster or a newbie, Valley Fishing Guides has a trip just for you. WHISTLER VILLAGE. Whistler isn't just about skiing! During the summer, this gondola ferries folks up the side of Whistler Mountain, where there are some 45km of hiking trails. The trip takes about 20 minutes and once you disembark you can follow a variety of signposted paths that open up vista after vista – bring a camera. If you don't quite trust your map skills, the resort leads guided tours each day at 11:30am. You can go even higher up (for even grander views) by taking the Peak Chairlift.

WHISTLER VILLAGE. Marjorie Blackwood, three-time Canadian champion, and National Master's Doubles Champion Peter Schelling run the programs at this excellent tennis resort. Visitors are welcome and there are world-renowned summer camps for both children and adults. The club features ten hard courts; three of them are indoors. The clubhouse has an exercise room, pro shop and a bar. Book tennis camps early – they fill up quickly!
