As a leading site for the manufacture of aircraft, including Cessna, Lear and Stearman, Wichita played an important role in the history of aviation. The museum, housed in the old Wichita Municipal Airport Terminal, features displays that chronicle the evolution of the industry as well as aspects of flight itself. A Children's Discovery Center features interactive exhibits that educate kids about the nature of aerodynamics. The museum also sponsors aerial displays, tours and other activities.
