7. Stroud's Restaurant and Bar

I went to Stouds for the first time a month ago. I've heard soo much wonderful feedback about this place. I will never go back to this place if I'm paying. it's beautiful inside, it's like a log cabin with fire place, which gives it a cozy environment, but when I saw the menu and that it was $14- $20 per person for fried chicken my jaw dropped. Their pan fried chicken is good, but it's not $20 good. and I can't eat that much fried anything. I can eat a breast or 2 legs, but not a breast a wing & a leg. I ended up buying their cheapest plate of chicken which was like $14 I ate half the breast & the rest of it that night the other 2 pieces went to waste because like I said I can't eat that much greasy fried chicken. they give you unlimited green beans & mashed potatoes. I ate a lot of green beans. I ate more green beans than chicken. and the potatoes I skipped all together because they tasted like they had been siting out for 12 hours. Our ticket for 2 people was over $50. This place is ridiculous I have no idea how it's gotten such good reviews. There is place called Brookville in Kansas a few hours a way. It has this same menu only I enjoyable going there.

I have eaten at Stroud's several times. This experience was the worst I have ever had. We made reservations for 7 pm we were seated at 7:30. We waited 25 minutes for our drinks. Then we waited 40 minutes for our salads. Our food was out before we could finish our salads. My husband had his whole family in from out of town, he had been telling them how great this restaurant was. Well they all left very disappointed. As did I. I am sure it was just a fluke but still we didn’t get any kind of apology or even acknowledgement that the service was bad.

The chicken is greasy and the food is anything but good. It all seems just slopped together. I've been there twice and will not go there again!

The chicken is the best I've ever had. It's also one of our favorite places to order it "to go."
