7. Midwestern State University

WICHITA FALLS.   One of the county's largest employers, Midwestern State helps Wichita Falls maintain a youthful swagger. The school of approximately 6500 was founded in 1922 as Wichita Falls Junior College. It now offers degrees in a variety of programs, including business, health sciences, and education. The beautiful campus invites a worthwhile stroll, thanks to red-brick buildings, tiled roofs, and tree-lined sidewalks.
