3. Hotter N' Hell Hundred

The Buzz -- Cyclists from all over Texas and the country wheel into Wichita Falls in late August to participate in this heated series of bike races, whose courses range from six to a hundred miles. In addition to adrenaline-raising competitions, the event includes live music, food, and drink. The race, first run in 1982, is now the largest, officially-sanctioned century bicycle ride in the US, drawing more than 7500 cyclists. Registration begins each spring.
