This museum offers a variety of dolls. There is a wonderful exhibit featuring Shirley Temple and another section of nativity scenes which will delight you no matter what time of year you see it. Unusual and interesting.

Located on the campus of Winston-Salem State University, the gallery contains a great deal of work by or about African-Americans. The works are done in many different mediums. Hosting rotating exhibits, the gallery offers many different types of work and you will certainly find an exhibit which appeals to you.

Located in the Horton Museum Center in the Old Salem Museums & Gardens, this museum consists of 24 period rooms and 6 galleries all featuring the decorative arts of the early South from three regions: the Chesapeake, the Low Country and the Backcountry. Exhibitions include furniture, painting, ceramics and metalware from before the 1820's. The bookstore offers a wide variety of books on southern arts.

Found at Old Salem in the Horton Museum Center, this museum's target group is children ages 4-9. The museum offers several hands-on exhibits that teach about life in the 17th and 18th century in Old Salem. Points of interest in the museum are the climbing sculpture which is an enormous two stories tall and a child-size maze.

Founded in 1766 by the Moravian Congregation of Pennsylvania, Old Salem Museums and Gardens is one of the best examples of colonial life in the United States. The costumed guides explain the life of these early settlers. Over 90 buildings have been brought back to life for you to experience the historic town of Salem. The site also includes the noteworthy Winkler Bakery, the Museum of Early Southern Decorative Arts (MESDA), the Old Salem Children's Museum, the Old Salem Toy Museum, and the Gardens of Salem.

This museum was once the home of the family of tobacco magnate, Richard Joshua Reynolds. The collection of paintings and sculpture contains works by Fredrick Church, Georgia O'Keefe and others. The museum also contains a costume collection and a display of toys from the Reynolds' children. Enjoy the warmth of the residence with a detailed booklet and self-guided tour.

SciWorks is a 15-acre environmental park which contains a large interactive exhibition and an enormous planetarium. The park offers a great deal for all children (at heart or age). The park always has something new and different. A sure bet!

Found near the Reynolda House, this hidden treasure showcases regional and national arts and crafts in an enormous space. The gallery does not include any standard art, meaning the exhibits are all temporary. This gives the public a chance to view a great deal of art on repeat visits and never see the same thing twice.
