Thomasville, home of Thomasville furniture, erected the chair made of wood and Swiss steer hide as tribute to the company in 1922. Exposure to the weather resulted in a complete overhaul in 1951 made of concrete. The enormous Duncan Phyfe armchair stands 30 feet tall.
